An alternative to credit-based generators
for AI persona content
Not one product: the billing model nearly every tool in this category uses, and the complaint that comes with it.
Why people go looking
- The allowance runs out before the month does, and the next batch waits or costs extra.
- Credits are priced per generation rather than per model, so an expensive model and a cheap one cost the same number of credits and the markup is invisible.
- Unused credits expire, so the bill is the same whether the month was busy or not.
- Deciding whether to re-roll a mediocre image becomes a budgeting question rather than a quality one.
Two different jobs
credit-based generators
A credit is a unit the seller defines, which is what makes the model attractive to sell: the price per credit and the credits per generation can both move, and the relationship to what the compute actually cost is not visible to you. Every direct competitor we have looked at bills this way.
Personifex
You bring your own model provider key. The provider bills you at its own prices and we never touch that transaction, so there is no markup and nothing to meter. The subscription pays for the workflow and does not move with volume.
What each one bills
Ours from the same file the checkout uses. Theirs is not listed here, for the reason given below.
Personifex
Flat monthly fee. Compute billed to your own provider key at the provider’s own prices, with no markup and no metering.

Plus compute. Price your volume
Stay where you are if
- You do not want to hold an API key or a second bill. Bringing your own key means creating a provider account and putting a card on it. A credit bundle is genuinely simpler.
- You generate rarely. A small credit allowance can cost less than a flat subscription plus compute at low volume, and there is no point pretending otherwise.
- You want one invoice for everything. Here you get two, one from us and one from the model provider.
Come over if
- Volume is what you are worried about. Flat plus cost means a heavy month costs more compute and the same subscription.
- You want to know what a run costs before you start it. Every price is published on this site, per model and per tier.
- You want to pick the model on quality rather than on how many credits it burns.
What you give up
The same three things are true whichever tool you are coming from, so they are on every one of these pages rather than only the ones where they are least awkward.
- Personifex does not post for you. It schedules, assigns and tracks, and a person publishes from the phone. Every tool on this page that publishes directly is ahead of us there, and we say so rather than leave you to find out.
- There is no importer. Nothing you have elsewhere moves across automatically, so a switch means starting the next batch here rather than migrating the last one.
- There is no free trial. The closest thing on offer is a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first payment, and plans are self-serve and cancel in one click.
Common questions
What does bring your own key actually mean?
You create your own account with the model provider, put a card on it and paste the key into settings. Generations then bill to that account at the provider’s own prices, and we never see the transaction. It also means you keep the account: cancel here and the key is still yours.
Is that cheaper?
Above a certain volume, yes, and below it, no. There is no markup on compute, so the question is whether the flat subscription costs less than the margin you would have paid in credits. That crossover depends on your volume and which models you use, which is exactly why the calculator is free and needs no account.
What happens if the provider changes prices?
Your compute bill moves and the subscription does not. That cuts both ways, and it is the honest trade: you carry the price risk directly instead of paying somebody to carry it for you.
NoteThere are no customer quotes on this page because there are no customers to quote yet. Everything above is either checked against our own code or read from the other tool's own pages on the date shown.
