How to pick the best AI images from a big batch
Updated October 28, 2026 · By Personifex
Don't hunt for the best image first. Go through the batch in fast passes that each ask one question: throw out what is broken, sort what is left into good and great, then pick the few you will use. One question per pass keeps each decision to a glance, and one key press per image beats dragging files into folders.
The method works in any viewer that can rate or flag photos. In Personifex the batch lands in Review as it finishes, so the first two passes happen there and the third in the Gallery, with nothing to download and sort first.
Three passes, one question each
| Pass | Ask | Then |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Reject | Is anything wrong? | Out with a wrong face, an extra finger or limb, garbled text or logos, the AI look, or anything not to your taste. |
| 2 Rank | Would I post it as it is? | Great if yes, Good if it will do, Needs edit if one fixable flaw spoils it. |
| 3 Pick | Which great ones will I use? | Choose the few you will post, and keep one of any near-duplicates. |
Keep every pass fast
- One image at a time, full size. A grid of thumbnails hides hands, text and faces.
- Decide at a glance. If you have to think about it, it is not Great.
- No comparing in the first two passes: comparing is what pass three is for.
- Keep near misses apart from rejects. One wrong finger is a fix, not a loss.
- Note which prompts keep landing. They are the ones worth running again.
Passes one and two in Review
Review shows each new image or clip full size, one at a time, and one key rates it, so the first two passes are a single run through the batch:
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| 1 | Trash: out of your library, kept in Trash for 7, 14 or 30 days by plan in case you change your mind |
| 2 | Good: to the Gallery |
| 3 | Great: to the Gallery |
| 4 | Needs edit: to the Gallery, under its own filter |
| Z | Undo the last rating; press again to go further back |
| Left, right | Previous or next, without rating |
| D | Details: the prompt, the model and what it cost |
On a phone, swipe instead: left for Trash, right for Good, up for Great and down for Needs edit. Holding a key down rates one image, never a run of them, and on a computer a magnifier checks hands, text and logos before you keep anything. Review can show one persona at a time, newest or oldest first.
A batch of 50 to 100 takes the operator who builds Personifex two to three minutes.
Pass three in the Gallery
Filter the Gallery to Great and choose what you will use. Its rating filter holds Raw, Needs edit, Good, Great and Trash, the grid sorts by newest, oldest or rating, and keys 1 to 4 re-rate an image open in the viewer.
Then download the keepers, or schedule them for whoever posts (on Creator and Agency).
What to do with near misses
Needs edit keeps a near miss out of Trash and under its own filter, so it is easy to find later.
In Prompts, the Great, Good, Needs edit and Trash lists show which prompts each rating came from. A prompt that keeps landing Great is worth more runs: Queue into puts a copy back in a queue for the next batch.
Keeping a persona consistent covers what makes an image Trash or Needs edit, and generating images in bulk covers the run before the review.
What this cannot promise
Rating is by hand: nothing scores or sorts your images for you, so the taste is yours. The two to three minutes is one operator's pace on their own batches, and this guide gives no keeper rate: how much of a batch you keep depends on the prompts, the model and your taste. Undo reaches back through one visit, and a reload starts it over.
